Class 1 Week 4

Here is my first pass at the animation for week four's assignment. I will probably be editing it soon though. Depending on the feedback I get on it.

So here is the final I am going to enter. Im sure there are some things that need to be worked on but I am going to have to call it quits at this point. Between work and AM I am swamped.

AM pose - Week 2

So Ive been at animation mentor two weeks now. This is the first assignment. It was to replicate a pose that we had sketched. This is version 6. I've tweaked it to death and I still don't know if I'm happy with it.

Greatful Dead/Life is Good

Went to the Gray Block party tonight and was taking some reference pics for AM. While we were watching a bluegrass band these guys sat down in front of us. Read their shirts!

I have dubbed them Yin (left) and Yang (right).

So my lovely wife bought me a subscription to National Geographic. And I read the following sentence in one of the articles about malaria. It was such a dumbfounding statement that I had to post it. The article talks about how rampant malaria has been throughout history. And then it says:

"A million Union Army casualties in the U.S. Civil War are attributed to malaria, and in the Pacific theater of World War II casualties from the disease exceeded those from combat. Some scientists believe that one out of every two people who have ever lived have died of malaria."

I read the last sentence 5 times before it sunk in. "one out of every two people who have ever lived". Makes bird flu look pretty lame huh?

Clamped with some facial animation

So now here is the clamped version with facial animation.

Some New News

The below post was from the site I designed roughly a year ago before I went to Siggraph 06. So how do you catch up to date on a whole year of missed news?

Went to Siggraph, gave out 50 demo reels and never got a call back, was told I needed more Ogres killing each other in my reel. I had several relatives die, including my uncle Walter, two cousins Natasha and Cody, and my last remaining grand parent Mae Carr. My wife and I were in a terrible car wreck in which I broke one knee and had a large gash on the other. I was in a wheel chair for over 8 weeks. My wife had internal injuries and was hospitalized for 60 days. She is better now though :D I was promoted to Senior Artist at work ( I started a new School 5 days ago. It is an online school called Animation Mentor ( My teacher is Elliott Roberts. He worked on Ratatouille, Robots, and Pirates of the Caribbean. More to come on AM in the future.

So yeah. Thats the last 12 months of my life. The whole thing seemed to start with me going to Siggraph...So I'm skipping it this year.

Old News Site

The old news page on Greg Animates had the following:

Viva La Siggraph. See you guys there.

Got married to Amanda Livingston on May 16th of this year. Go visit our Cheesy web site to learn more about it.

Working at Unique Logic and Technology in Asheville NC.

Still working to finish Remebering Omery.

Feel free to read my thesis paper on character animation. It's long.

I'm A Bloggin now!!
